Farm Bureau did not send the Protest MailerDate:

Earlier this week, over 1,600 mailers were sent out encouraging protest votes regarding the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency’s proposal to increase its fees. The mailer appears to have been prepared and paid for by the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau – it was not. As a result, many calls have been received by the Farm Bureau office over the past 24 hours. Farm Bureau President John E. Eiskamp stated, “Farm Bureau is a neutral party on this issue. Many people in the valley have a mistrust of the water agency so an organized group asked if the Farm Bureau would be a third party and accept protest votes and deliver them to the agency. We were shocked to see the mailer prepared in a manner in which it appears the Farm Bureau is asking people to submit a protest vote.” |
